 Benefits of our sulfone materials

In general

  • More than 20 years of successful use in the membrane industry.
  • Vast accumulated research knowledge in the use of polysulfone in open and patent literature.
  • Low levels of insolubles, extractables and insoluble gels.
  • FDA and other agency approvals (like EC Directives, NSF 61,…).
  • Research and Development team at your service to answer your needs and specific requirements.

Chemical Resistance

  • Stable to wide pH levels (from 2 to 13) and therefore can withstand many types of membrane cleaning methods.
  • Good resistance to oxidizing agents such as aqueous chlorine, and bleach.
  • Fairly good chemical resistance allowing feeds containing various contaminants.
  • Soluble in water-soluble industrial solvents that are suitable for membrane manufacturing.
  • Good hydrolytic stability allowing long term use of the membranes.
  • Good oxidative stability allowing long term use of the membranes.

Mechanical properties

  • Fairly good compaction resistance allowing use under high pressures.

Thermal properties

  • High enough glass transition temperature.

Membrane Manufacturing

  • Easy membrane manufacturing.
  • Allows reproducible formation of good quality membranes with sufficient flux and fiber strength.
  • Forms membranes with different pore sizes, with proper choice of pore formers, viscosity and gelation conditions.
  • Provides stable polysulfone solution viscosities even in the presence of air.
  • Highest molecular weight grade, Polysulfone UDEL® P-3500 NT, is ideal in terms of solution viscosity and fiber strength; Formation of lower cyclic dimer solution is now possible with new UDEL® P-3500 NT LCD.
