This a key market for Solvay because Sulfone polymers (UDEL® PSF polysulfone / RADEL® A PES polyethersulfone / RADEL® R PPSU polyphenylsulfone), and Fluoropolymers (SOLEF® PVDF Polyvinylidene Fluoride) have excellent properties for membrane production and use.
Sulfone polymers and PVDF are the material of choice for:
- MICROFILTRATION Membranes (MF)
- ULTRAFILTRATION Membranes (UF)
- DRINKING WATER treatment (both from Surface and Ground waters)
- WASTEWATER treatment (including the Membrane Bio-Reactor technology)

These Polymers :
- Are easy to process with good film-forming properties
- Give robust membranes
- Offer very good control of the pore size and pore size distribution
- Offer good ozone, chlorine and UV resistance under certain conditions
Overview
