Two-thirds of the total gas separation market is in the separation of nitrogen from air, and of hydrogen from ammonia purge gas.

Here are some applications examples in this market:

Air Separation

  • Nitrogen from air separation.
  • Separation of oxygen from air.

Hydrogen recovery

  • For example, from a purge gas stream in ammonia synthesis.  Generally, hydrogen is recovered from waste process gases.

Natural gas

  • Carbon dioxide removal (from natural gas, for example).
  • Natural gas liquids removal.
  • Natural gas dehydration.

Vapour / gas separation

Benefits that our materials provide for these applications

SULFONES and PVDF membrane materials offer:

  • High permeability to specific gas.
  • High selectivity to specific gas.
  • Ability to form stable and thin structures that can be packaged into high surface area modules.

In this Gas application, membranes offer:

  • Cheaper operation economics
  • More tolerance towards lower gas purity
